About the Lunch and Learn: How Can I Relate to Gen Z?
The current cohort of high school and college students are considered part of Generation Z, or the iGeneration, the group born between 1997-2012. Raised on the internet and social media, these young people are the first generation to have grown up wholly in the digital era.
You’re invited to join SOCHE for another virtual lunch and learn, entitled “How Can I Relate to Gen Z?” on Thursday, March 10, beginning at 12 p.m. The session will be presented by Angelica Kennedy, M.Ed., office manager for the executive suite at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College.
As faculty and staff, finding ways to relate to the varied generations represented by the different cohorts of students can present unique challenges. This workshop will equip you with the information you should know about the current generation of high school and traditional-aged college students. Learn how to keep their attention, what their interests are, how they communicate and identify ways to engage and motivate the Gen Z students you interact with every day. About the Presenter
Angelica Kennedy, M.Ed.
Executive Assistant to the President and Office Manager for the Executive Suite
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College
Angelica Kennedy is the Executive Assistant to President Dr. Monica Posey and the Office Manager of the Executive Suite at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. In her current position, she supports the Board of Trustees and the Executive Team. In addition, she handles student academic concerns and manages various outreach projects for building strong community relationships such as work with the 2020 Census. She is also a First Year Experience Adjunct Professor for the college.
Angelica has over twenty years of diverse experience in higher education starting her career as a student worker in the admissions office at the University Cincinnati. After several years at UC, Angelica became the Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Good Samaritan College of Nursing. Angelica has worked with a diverse population of students including traditional and non-traditional age groups within pre-k through college as a teacher, career counselor and community advocate. She enjoys working within higher education and hopes to continue supporting and educating individuals as a higher education professional within student success and as a documentarian.
Angelica obtained a Bachelor of Fine Art in Communication and a Masters of Education from the University of Cincinnati. An enthusiast of education she also obtained a Masters of Art in Communication as well as several certificates from various universities including the University of California Los Angeles. She plans to continue her education by completing a Doctorate in Social Justice Education in the near future.
In her spare time, she loves karaoke, cooking, spending time with her family, working within her church, and creating documentaries to encourage and support the community.
