Event Details

The Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) will host an in-person Title IX Decision-Maker/Hearing Training on Friday, Nov. 4, at the MeadWestvaco Theatre at Cox Arboretum (6733 N. Springboro Pike, Dayton). The training, which will be conducted by attorneys from Bricker & Eckler LLP, takes place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and will include a working lunch.

This session will be conducted as a mock Title IX hearing. We will pick up our scenario from the Investigator Training hosted last February, and participants will learn how to prepare appropriate hearing questions from all perspectives – whether as a decision-maker or as an advisor to a party. Participants will play the parts of decision-maker panelists, advisors, and witnesses to help us decide the case by the end of the day. (Last February’s training is not a prerequisite to attend, so please join us!)

This workshop is recommended for Title IX coordinators and decision-makers, and it may also be helpful for investigators and appeals officers to understand what evidence is helpful and how decisions are made.

This training will provide an excellent opportunity for Title IX personnel to come together and learn with, and from, each other.

Councils & Committees

SOCHE is dedicated to advancing higher education through active collaboration, resource and knowledge building, and effective professional development programs. To accomplish this, SOCHE administers 16 active Councils and Committees. The purpose of a SOCHE Council or Committee is to provide an opportunity for representatives from higher education to be a resource for one another, share information and best practices, identify common challenges, and, ultimately, broaden awareness of the resources, services, and activities in higher education. SOCHE is also dependent upon the Councils and Committees for substantial input on annual professional development programs.
