The Aerospace Professional Development Center at SOCHE works across Ohio with the aerospace and defense industry and government, higher education institutions and STEM organizations and initiatives to ensure Ohio’s Aerospace and Defense workforce needs are met.

We will help you identify continuing education and professional development that will help you reach your goals as well as help you find job openings requiring your education and experience.
Recent graduates and current students in aerospace and defense related disciplines.
Whether your background is in engineering, other STEM fields, or business, we will assist you in finding co-ops and internships and entry level openings as well as identify what skill sets you will need upon graduation to be job-ready in Ohio.

Our website will guide you to an understanding of the education and professional development programs available across the state as well as an understanding of what education and training is required to enter these fields. Additionally, we’ll help you find the co-ops and internships you need.

Working with the STEM Leadership Institute, we’ll help you find the right path for you to earn a job in the Aerospace or Defense Industry in Ohio by connecting you with the right programs, internships, and mentoring programs that will give you exposure to careers in the field.
Shaping Ohio's Aerospace and Defense Workforce
The Aerospace Professional Development Center will continue to assess the skills of Ohio’s workforce; work with Ohio’s industry employers to ensure they have their current and future workforce needs met in order to continue to grow their business. In addition, we will provide a portal for future employees to find internships, co-cops, educational and professional development opportunities and employment in Ohio.
In January 2015 the Center opened its doors to Aerospace and Defense Employees, potential employees, students and Veterans. The Center assists individuals with Career Assessments, Resume Writing, Interviewing Skills and proper Job-Searching Techniques.

Aerospace and defense companies have found firm ground for growth in Ohio in an environment cultivated to meet logistical and workforce needs. Together, the industries represent one of Ohio’s largest employers with more than 100,000 skilled full-time Ohioans in more than 1,200 companies.
And the vibrant growth continues. Ohio plans to be at the forefront of the anticipated 3.44 percent increase in global aircraft demand over the next decade.

Planning for future demand, we are seeking the help of employers to align higher education curriculum and workforce training with business needs. Our efforts will include:
- Roundtables to discuss and assess the advanced skills needed by aerospace industry employers and government
- Continue to identify specific professional workforce gaps
- Leverage existing university, college and other professional development programs to fill the gaps. When necessary we will develop new professional development programs, understanding new technologies may require new skills.
- Connect professionals with additional training, certifications, or education necessary to meet your needs
