Event Details

You are invited to join SOCHE for a virtual lunch and learn entitled “Brain-Based Career Development,” on Thursday, Sept. 26, beginning at 12 p.m. ET. The session will be presented by Aaron Sturgill, Executive Director, Career Readiness for the Center for Advising, Career and Experiential Learning at Ohio University.

For most individuals, the career development process is inherently overwhelming, due to the sheer amount of information and future-based thinking involved in making life-altering decisions. In this session, we will look at the intersection of neuroscience and career development in the form of Brain-Based Career Development (BBCD).

We will explore practical strategies and techniques that can enhance decision-making, problem-solving, and overall career success for both students and professionals. Learn how to create an environment that promotes active learning, critical thinking, and motivation in individuals navigating their career paths.

Whether you are an educator, supervisor, or career development professional, this session will equip you with insights and tools to optimize cognitive function, empower individuals to drive their career journeys, and foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Webinar participants will learn to:

  • Understand the Brain-Based Career Development model
  • Examine “decision making” and “taking action” from a brain-based perspective
  • Recognize how clients become overwhelmed
  • Formulate a plan for implementing the BBCD model in current career development practices

Discover how understanding the brain’s cognitive processes can revolutionize the way we approach career development! Registration for this event will close on Monday, Sept. 23. Click here to register now.

Councils & Committees

SOCHE is dedicated to advancing higher education through active collaboration, resource and knowledge building, and effective professional development programs. To accomplish this, SOCHE administers 16 active Councils and Committees. The purpose of a SOCHE Council or Committee is to provide an opportunity for representatives from higher education to be a resource for one another, share information and best practices, identify common challenges, and, ultimately, broaden awareness of the resources, services, and activities in higher education. SOCHE is also dependent upon the Councils and Committees for substantial input on annual professional development programs.
