Event Details

SOCHE invites you to attendDeepen Your Resilience with the Social Resilience Model,” a virtual training being held on Friday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. ET, via Zoom. Becky Ketron, from Montgomery County Alcohol, Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services, will lead this important training.

We all have the capacity to become more resilient — to weather coming storms, to survive difficult times. This capacity can be enhanced, reinforced, and strengthened through the use of the Social Resilience Model. SRM is a neurobiologically oriented set of skills designed to teach practical ways to stabilize the human nervous system, build resilience, and reduce and/or prevent the symptoms of stress, distress, and trauma.

During this presentation we will share skills you can use every day to help you recognize stress in your body and use Grounding and Resourcing to expand your Resilience Zone.

What will you learn?

  • The definition of resilience
  • Where the Resilience Zone is and the amygdala’s role in responding to stress, distress and trauma
  • Physical, Emotional, and Behavioral signs and symptoms of stress
  • SRM skills to regulate the nervous system

This event is offered free-of-charge to personnel from SOCHE member institutions.

Councils & Committees

SOCHE is dedicated to advancing higher education through active collaboration, resource and knowledge building, and effective professional development programs. To accomplish this, SOCHE administers 16 active Councils and Committees. The purpose of a SOCHE Council or Committee is to provide an opportunity for representatives from higher education to be a resource for one another, share information and best practices, identify common challenges, and, ultimately, broaden awareness of the resources, services, and activities in higher education. SOCHE is also dependent upon the Councils and Committees for substantial input on annual professional development programs.
